A Mother Who Sees

I believe the point of this week's message is the power and strength in mothers and how important they are to the family unit. This weeks bible passage is about a wife who cares for her family, is strong, smart, capable, and follows the Lord. The weekly reading was about a mother who encouraged and supported her son in everything. As mothers we have a lot of responsibility in raising our children to know God and to be strong people. We play a critical role in the development of our children. I think it serves as a good reminder that if we stay positive and do our best, our children will follow suit. As they say, "Monkey see. Monkey do." If we want our children to have a good relationship with God, then we need to make sure WE have a good relationship with God.

  1. Kristen, I agree with you that we as women, mothers and wives have a lot of responsibility. This is another good bible verse, I would encourage everyone to read it. I don't think we are expected to do all these things every day. But it is something that we can work towards in our lives. When we are actively participating in each area of our lives, we need to think, does what I am saying and doing bringing honor and glory to God? Kind of like "What would Jesus do?" The book of Proverbs provides a lot of wisdom. The last 2 stories and bible verses have been great!

  2. Reading this I thought of my own mom and the things she used to say to me. When I'd be angry at someone she'd tell me "kill them with kindness" (I don't know if Kenny can attest to that one though) But it's something that stuck with me. My employees have said that I maintain a fairly even temper, and it helps me get through some of my worst days because at least I knew that I didn't embarrass myself by out-bursting. I look to my mom for a lot of advice still and share a lot of things with her and just hope that one day I could be a mom like she was for me.

  3. This discussion reminds me of a poem I recently read (and it applies as much to the moms as it does to the dads!):

    A careful man I must always be;
    A little fellow follows me.
    I know I dare not go astray
    For fear he’ll go the self same way.

    I cannot once escape his eyes,
    Whate’er he sees me do, he tries.
    Like me he says he’s going to be;
    This little chap who follows me.

    He thinks that I am good and fine,
    Believes in every word of mine.
    The base in me he must not see;
    This little chap who follows me.

    I must be careful as I go
    Through summer’s sun and winter’s snow,
    Because I am building for the years to be;
    This little chap who follows me.
